Reflect on & Celebrate Success

For my health & well being, I regularly attend EFM at Torrens Park.

The EFM coaches invited me to participate in a winter challenge to row on the rowing machine from the Murray Mouth to Bowhill being 185kms.   The challenge will run for three months from the beginning of June to the end of August.  With a little trepidation I took on the challenge.

After the first month, I am within 10kms of arriving at my first check-in point which is Wellington, being 76kms from the Murray Mouth.  At this point I am making plans about how to cover the final 10kms to Wellington and establish my goal for kilometres to row by the end of July.  My overall feeling is there seems to be so far to go, I doubt whether I will be able to keep on schedule to reach the goal of Bowhill by the end of August.

My reflection from this feeling is that I am concentrating so much on planning for and worrying about achieving my goal, I am forgetting to celebrate what I achieved in June.  I should take time out to be celebrate I rowed the equivalent of 66kms in the month, something I scarcely believed would be possible when I started the challenge.

The lesson for me as a business owner is that I must reflect on and celebrate what I achieved in the past 12 months before I start planning how to achieve my goals in the new financial year.

As it turns out, the past year was my most successful to date.   As a result, I am taking my family out to dinner at Mayura Station, which is a national award-winning Wagyu Beef Steak House, to celebrate that success.
