Change is an inevitable force that shapes the trajectory of our lives propelling us forward into the unknown.  Change will often be a blend of apprehension and excitement marking the unknown with both trepidation and anticipation.

Reflecting on my journey as a business coach & mentor, I frequently meet with business owners seeking help to implement change in business and life.  It is clear the fear of changing is overshadowing the potential benefits change may bring.

A perfect example of this phenomenon arose during a conversation this week with a business owner who was seeking clarity about the next steps in his business and life.

The business owner was an equity partner in a thriving professional services firm, which was allowing him to live a contented life with a loving family and financial security.   Despite his success he felt a sense of aimlessness, yearning for greater fulfilment and achievement.

Upon probing his aspirations in business + life, the owner eloquently outlined a clear & concise vision of his future, encompassing both professional milestones and personal fulfilment.  The challenge lay in bridging the gap between the current reality and the envisioned future.

I encouraged the business owner to confront these challenges through embracing calculated risks to bridge the gap.  By relinquishing the safety of familiarity and venturing into the realm of the unknown, he will capitalize on the power of change to propel himself towards his desired future.

Ultimately the journey toward creating the business owners’ aspirations in business + life will necessitate him to leave the comfort of the status quo.  Embracing this uncertainty with unwavering resolve is the powerful catalyst for implementing the actions required to create his envisioned future.
